Who really needs a Chiropractor, anyway?

The short answer is; if you have a spine, you need a chiropractor.

The majority of patients that come into the office present with similar conditions; headaches, neck pain, back pain, sciatica, and shoulder pain are the most common. What we are able to “fix” is so much more though…

The word “Chiropractic” is an amalgam of two Greek words,  cheir (meaning ‘hand‘) and praktos. (meaning ‘done‘), i.e. Done by Hand.

Chiropractic is really an Art, Science, and a Philosophy.  We crazy chiropractors actually believe that your body has the in-born ability to heal itself.  We believe that we (human beings) were created by God with a perfect and ingenious system that actually allows your body to heal itself.  Crazy, right?  The human body is controlled by a “master system”.  This master system is comprised of the brain, spinal cord, nerves and nerve endings.  These individual bits make up the “nervous system”.

The Nervous System

The Nervous System controls EVERY SINGLE OTHER SYSTEM IN YOUR BODY.  Every muscle, organ, tissue, cell, hormone, every function is under the DIRECT control of the nervous system.  When there is an interruption in the communication of the nervous system, it results in disease.

Chiropractors primarily treat subluxations.  A subluxation is a mal-position of a bone/joint that causes interference (pinching or irritation) with a nerve.

Musculo-Skeletal System

Chiropractors also treat conditions related to bones, muscles, joints, tendons, ligaments, etc.  Alignment problems can (and will) lead to premature failure of your joints and soft tissues resulting in many pain syndromes and unnecessary drugs and surgeries.

So who REALLY needs a Chiropractor?  EVERYONE!

I get a chiropractic adjustment every week whether I feel like I need it or not.  My wife gets an adjustment every week.  My daughter gets an adjustment every week.  My mother, father, sisters, aunts…all of my family get adjusted every week.  We do this because I know that having a healthy spine and joints will keep us healthy longer.  I know that having optimal communication from my nervous system to the rest of my body is one of the best ways to prevent disease.

Seriously, everyone?

I am such a strong believer in Chiropractic that even my dogs get adjusted.  My dog Aleah had begun to develop hip problems (very common in large breeds).  She was slow to stand up and did not “spring” into the truck bed like she used to.   I called my friend Dr. Darcy for help.  Dr. Darcy practices (on people) in Fort Worth during the week, but on the weekends she adjusts patients with more legs and more fur.  After a quick assessment and adjustment, Aleah was running around like a puppy.  Aleah had a subluxation (remember that pinched nerve thing) at the base of her spine, between her hips.

CHIROPRACTIC WORKS!  For those naysayers out there; you can not “placebo” a doggie.  Chiropractic is the only thing that can take YEARS off you.  Chiropractic relies on your own body to heal itself, no drungs, no shots, no surgeries.

For anyone that is taking medication for pain, considering surgery, or just wants to feel better, chiropractic is the best option.
